Harriet K. Brewster

Harriet Brewster passed away peacefully Monday, July 27, 2009 at her home in San Carlos, CA, at the age of 91.
She was born in San Diego, CA September 20, 1917 and was a resident of San Carlos for over 37 years.
Harriet, a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, had several careers during her dynamic life including a “stay at home mom”, community activist and real estate agent. She was an active member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), American Civil Liberties Union, and American Association of University Women. She spent 10 years living in South America followed by 17 years in Salt Lake City, Utah, ultimately moving to San Carlos.
She is survived by her daughter Stephanie Peterson, her son, John Thomas Jr. (Tom) and his wife Irene Avila, five grand children, Kristin, Lori Lynn, Darren, Terrence and Sofia and three great-grandchildren, Amanda Marie, Kaley, and Amanda.
A Memorial for family and close friends will be held at Valley Presbyterian Church, 945 Portola Road, Portola Valley, CA 94028 on August 29,2009 at 4:00 PM.
Mom has forever touched the hearts and lives of her family and friends, she will be missed.
