Hugh Edward Bennett

Resident of Belmont
Hugh passed quietly surrounded by his family at UCSF
after a courageous battle with Leukemia.
He was born in Santa Barbara , Ca, to Anne and
Wayland Bennett.
Hugh moved to So. San Francisco , Ca, and attended So. San
Francisco High School. He Served 4 years in the US
Navy during the Korean War.
Hugh was married to Shirley Bennett, and was retired from the
Belmont Fire Protection Dist. after a 27 year career.
He was a 53 year resident of Belmont, Ca where he
coached Little League, Babe Ruth Baseball and Girls
Softball at Notre Dame High School , ASA Softball,
and was Scout Master Troop 93.
Hugh loved sports, gardening, coin collecting, wood duck carving, his friends and just talking with
people and neighbors.
Hugh is survived by his wife of 58 years Shirley;
children Tony Bennett & Sue of Reno, Mike Bennett of
Belmont, Jeff Bennett of Belmont ; beloved grandchildren, Casey McBride, Brandy Bennett and
Austin Bennett; brother to Al & Terri Bennett of Sparks
Nev., Carl & Sally Bennett of Carson City , Nev., Wally &
Karen Bennett of Carson City , Nev. ; and numerous
nieces and nephews. Hugh is deeply loved and will be
sorely missed by his family and friends.
Family Memorial will be held in Carson City , Nev.
