Stuart Gordon Whittelsey, born October 6, 1929, passed away on June 1, 2009 at the age of 79. He was survived by his wife Carleen Whittelsey, 2 daughters, 9 stepchildren, 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Stu was a Class of ‘51 Stanford University graduate and received an MBA at Harvard University . Professionally, Stu was an Air Force Veteran, and a financial executive for high tech companies. He acted as CFO for a number of high profile initial public offerings such as Informix and Stanford Telecommunications. He was a Board member of the Mid-Peninsula Blood Bank for over 30 years.
Stu resided in Woodside and was an avid horseman. He was a member and Past Captain of the Mounted Patrol of San Mateo County, the Los Viajeros Riding Club, the San Mateo County Horsemen’s Association, and the Shack Riders. He served in the Color Guard of the Mounted Patrol for over 20 years, carrying the American flag at events throughout the area. He was a fixture on the Woodside trail system riding with his wife, family, and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 1:00PM at the Mounted Patrol Grounds, 521 Kings Mountain Road , Woodside , CA 94062 .
