James Robert Hansen
Passed away peacefully in his sleep May 20 in Palo Alto at age 78. Born the youngest of five children of Christian and Wilhelmina Hansen in San Francisco, he worked for over 25 years as a licensed Professional Engineer. Retired employee of Eimac (Varian), he was a Navy Korean War Veteran and member of several veterans associations. Was a 50 year resident of San Carlos where he designed and single-handedly built a house for his family. He will be sorely missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Joanne. Devoted Father to Julie Hansen, David Hansen, Jessie Gallagher, Dennis Hansen and Jackie Harris. Treasured Grandfather of Patrick Ferrell, Lisa Becker, Robert Hansen, Michael Hansen, Shelley Berger, Kevin Hansen, Douglas Hansen, Casey Gallagher, Joanne Gallagher, Megan Hansen, Matthew Harris and David Harris. Services will be held Tuesday, May 26, 11:00 am at Crippen & Flynn Carlmont Chapel, 1111 Alameda, Belmont and burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma. Family prefers donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
