Arnold "Kechi" McEachern

Arnold "Kechi" McEachern, of Wichita, Kansas, retired President of Star Electric Supply of Wichita, Kansas, died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Deseret Nursing Home in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 86.

"Kechi" was born August 20, 1921 to John and Ruth (McDaniel) McEachern at the homestead of his grandfather near Perth, Kansas.

He attended a one-room grade school and graduated in 1939 from Wellington High School. He attended American Business College while working at the Lassen Hotel Coffee Shop. Kechi was then employed at American Electirc Company.

In 1942, he married Doris Brown at Conway Springs, Kansas and enlisted in the Army. He was a Tech-Sgt. at Eisenhower's Headquarters in London and received the Bronze Star while stationed in France. He returned to American Electric Co. as a city salesman. In 1954 he was co-founder of Star Electric Supply, Inc and served as president until age 70.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and camping. He and his wife traveled internationally with Friendship Force and served as hosts for guests to the US.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Doris, dauther Sharon McEachern of Broomfield, Co., son Barry (Pam) McEachern, Wichita, granddaughters; Sara McEachern, Merriam, KS and Kim Day, Horsham, PA, sister Mary Lou Hyter, Wellington, KS, many friends and business associates.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bonnie Ward and brothers Glen and Billy McEachern.

Memorial services for Kechi will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Wichita, Kansas.

A memorial has been established to Inter-Faith MInistries, 829 N. Market, Wichita, Kansas 67214.
