James Herbert Mills, 82, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Mason City, died at St. Luke's Hospital, Thursday, (September 24, 2009).

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, where full military honors will be conducted by members of Mason City Veteran's Memorial Association.

A visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, Cedar Rapids and from 12 to 2 p.m. Monday at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Chapel in Mason City.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes; children, Roland (Sandy) Mills of Marion, Roxanne (Mark) Patton of Dubuque, Nancy (Lynn) Huber and Paul Mills, both of Rockwell, Jeff Mills of Hiawatha, and Rusty (Audrey) Mills of Mason City; sisters, Claudia Rye and Mary Rigdon, both of Mason City, Patricia Hoffler of Montana; brother, Donald Mills of Papillion, Nebraska; 23 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; a son, Daniel; granddaughters, Elizabeth Huber and Jena Mills.

Jim was born on April 14, 1927 in Decatur, IL to Everett and Winifred Mills. He married Shirley Boyle in Mason City on June 7, 1947. He then married Agnes West in Milton, Iowa on June 27, 1992. He had an automobile repair business in Mason City for 20 years and then went to work for Lifetime Motor Homes there until they closed. He then was the head of the maintenance department for the Coca-Cola bottling plant in Mason City and then transferred to the Cedar Rapids plant. Jim was an Army veteran of WWII, a life member of the Mason City VFW, and a member of Moose and Eagles Clubs in Cedar Rapids.
