Mason City-Mary J. Jan Seely, 69, of 638 6th Street Southeast, Mason City, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 26, 2009, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street Northeast, with Reverend Michael Schueller officiating. Inurnment will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 28, 2009 at Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 P.M., Friday, September 25, 2009, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or the Senior Citizens Center in Mason City.
Jan was born September 21, 1940 the daughter of James and June (Palmer) Tenney, in Mason City. She received her education at the Mason City Township (Central Heights School) and St. Josephs School, in Mason City. She married Philip Clark Seely on July 11, 1968 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Mary was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, the B.P.O. Does, in which she was President in 1977, and State Treasurer in 1978, a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, and a member of the Women of the Moose, having held a couple of offices. She was also a life time member of the U.S.S. Wisconsin Association, and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association.
She is survived by her 6 daughters Christina Marie Eldridge, Summerville, South Carolina, Patricia June Hjelle, Mason City, Ann Marie Shaffer, Des Moines, Mary Jo (Vern) Duffield, Lake City, Minnesota, Kimberly Kay Alejandre, Lodi, California, Michelle Lynn Hathaway, Mason City, step sons Tony, Pat and Tim Seely, 26 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, a brother Jerome (Jean) Tenney, Goose Creek, South Carolina, and a sister Joy Martzahl, Burchinal.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandson, Scott, and her mother and father in law.
