Nora Springs- Richard “Tony” A. Severe, 51, of 1715 Red Ball Road., Nora Springs, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit-Mason City after a 9 month courageous battle with cancer at home with his family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street Northeast, Mason City, with Pastor Ed Bard officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Tony.
Tony was born March 22, 1958, in Oceanside, CA, the son of Richard Leroy and Marlys (Arndt) Severe. He married Laurie (Hinrichsen) on August 11, 1980, in Mason City, and to this union 2 children were born.
Tony was an employee of Curries for 29 years, which he loved. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. He was also an avid hunter that loved the outdoors. Tony was involved with Trumpeter Swan restoration, which he also enjoyed. Tony was also a serious Vikings football fan!
He is survived by his wife Laurie, Nora Springs, his daughter Chelsy (Mark) Schultz, Mason City, his grandchildren Ayla and Eli Schultz, Mason City, his parents, Richard Severe, Eagen, MN, and Marlys Kramm, Nora Springs, his siblings, Terry Severe, Nora Springs, Tammy Severe, Bloomington, MN, Kim (Brian) McDonough, Nora Springs, Kelly (John) Krause, Nora Springs, and Khris (Julie) Kramm, Nora Springs, his honorary brother Dale (Cindy) Lipp, and their children Jake, Sam, and Hunter, Nora Springs, his mother-in-law Betty Hinrichsen, Nora Springs, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and endless friends and family “you know who you are”.
Tony was preceded in death by his grandparents Leroy (Helen) Severe, and Ted (Margaret) Arndt, his father-in-law Earl Hinrichsen, his infant daughter Jennifer and special friend Paul Lipp.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ted (Bev) Arndt, for helping them through this difficult time.
