Fertile-Marcus Steven Lovik, 67, 210 E. Main, died Friday, July 28, 2006 at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, IA.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 2, 10:30 AM at the Fertile Lutheran Church, 602 W. Washington, Fertile, with Pastor David Halverson officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Winnebago Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Marcus S. Lovik Memorial Fund.

Marcus was born January 28, 1939, the son of Lloyd & Mavis (Holtan) Lovik, in their farm house near Forest City, IA. He attended Fertile Schools and later graduated from Fertile High in 1956. Growing up he helped his father on the farm and was the local milk delivery boy.

His battle began in 2000, when he found out he had a bad heart. Marcus lived a good, hard life as we all know. He loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them. He also enjoyed visiting with friends. He could often be found talking with friends on the deck. Marcus liked to fish, play cards, and share his knowledge about carpentry; he could build most anything. He was really looking forward to ridding in Fertile’s Sesquicentennial parade and attending his 50th class reunion, so he could visit with all his classmates.

Marcus is survived by his father Lloyd Lovik, the love of his life, Mary Kreis, Fertile, children, Holly Lovik, Clear Lake; he has 3 fur grandchildren: Mack (Golden Retriever) and Bear & Lynx (Cats), Scott (Laura) Lovik, Clear Lake, and grand-dog Casey (Yorkie), Steve (Paula) Lovik, grandchildren, Erika and Alexis Lovik, Stephanie and Christie Lovik, one great granddaughter, brother, Lamar Lovik, Tucson, AZ, nieces, Dana (Perry) Comito and Kristen (Steven) Winters, along with other relatives and friends.

Marcus is preceded in death by his mother Mavis Lovik, three sisters, Linda Lovik, and two in infancy.
