Johnnie Alfred Waddell, 74, of Springhill Church Road died Wednesday at UNC Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at St. Mary’s Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. David Kriger will officiate. Burial will follow in the Alfred Waddell Cemetery behind the home.

Surviving; wife, Joan Howell Waddell; 2 daughters, Cynthia Waddell of Lucama; Susan W. Alford and husband Reggie of Lucama; step- children, Diana Toledo and husband Ernie of Michigan; David Howell and wife Becky of CA; Dan Howell & wife Elaine of GA: Douglas Howell of Jacksonville, NC; Dirk Howell of IL; 2 sisters, Hilda Woodruff and husband Kenneth of Lucama; Doris Holmes and husband Tommy of Selma;
2 brothers, Kenneth Waddell and Gerald Waddell both of Lucama; 4grandchildren, Jessica Castle, Kristen Thigpen, Angel Alford and Dustin Alford; 15 step-grandchildren; Adam, Jonathan Benjamin and Joseph Toledo, Michele, Tracy, D.J., Katlyn, Ryan, Fran, Wesley, Amanda, and Dustin Howell; Sarah St. Clair, Amy Lynn Titus;10 step-great grandchildren,
Preceded in death by step-grandson Jesse Howell.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 PM at Minshew-Coley Funeral Home.
