Gilda Renfrow Six, 78, died at home, Sunday June 7, 2009, after a 2 and a half year battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held Wed. June 10, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at Springhill Presbyterian Church. Rev. Denver Blevins and Dr. Sefton Strickland will preach the funeral. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. She was born in Wilson County January 19, 1931 to the late James Graydon and Rachel Stancil Renfrow. Mrs. Six attended Peace Collage for 2 years after High school where she studied art. She then worked for the CIA. in Washington DC. for three years and studied at Corcorran School of Art while in Wash. DC. Mrs. Six met her husband Walter E. Six, while he was in the Marines and she was working for the CIA. After he returned from serving in Korea during the Korean War, they were married in 1952. Mrs. Six gave private Art lesson from her home while raising her three boys. She returned to School at Atlantic Christian College where she received a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Art. She was an Artist with a preferred expression of creativity in painting but she enjoyed creating sculptures and mosaics.

Surviving family members are sons; Walter Mathew Six, and Walter Derek Six; three brothers; Harold T. Renfrow, Donald E. Renfrow, and J.G. Renfrow Jr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Graydon Renfrow and Rachel Stancil Renfrow, her husband, Walter E. Six and son Walter Mark Six.

Family will receive friends Tuesday June 9, 2009 from 6 till 8 PM. Memorial gifts may be given to Springhill Presbyterian Church Building Fund. Minshew-Coley Funeral Home is handling the arrangements
