Luella I. Swartz, age 96 of Upper Sandusky died at 4:10 p.m. on Tuesday Oct. 20, 2009 at The Inn at Westbrook where she had been living since April 2005.
A daughter of Franklin and Dula (Gibson) Horn, she was born in Wyandot County on August 5, 1913. She married Ira R. Swartz in Wellsburg, WV on April 8, 1932. He died on August 5, 1990.
Ms. Swartz has 3 surviving daughters Mrs. Thomas (Dora Lou) Kin, McCutchenville, Mrs. Nick (Iris) Hahn, Bellevue, Mrs. Paul (Mary Jane) Knapp, Columbus, and a son Ira (Dianna) Swartz, Upper Sandusky, 18 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren 2 great great grandchildren, a sister Charity Littlejohn of CA, two brothers, John of NV and Delson of OH.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers Floyd, Frank Jr., Orville Horn, 2 sisters Esther Bear and Mildred Wagner.
Luella was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for the family farm business. She also was a bookkeeper for the former US Commission Co.
Ms. Swartz a 1932 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. She was a member of the John Stewart United Methodist Church since 1936. Luella was a former member of the Warpole Chapter # 366 OES and Wyandot Piecemakers quilting club.
Luella enjoyed traveling throughout the world. She was a Boston Celtics fan and an avid reader.
A graveside service will be held on Friday Oct. 23, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery, Upper Sandusky with Pastor Wayne Geissinger officiating.
