FOR YOUR INFORMATION

In most states, and particularly in Wisconsin, the county coroner or medical examiner's office must authorize a cremation.  This authorization assures that the deceased did not die for any reason other than natural causes or accident.  If the death was not for those reasons, the medical examiner will authorize a cremation, but only after all legal and/or physical evidence has been secured.

There is a 48 hour minimum waiting period after death has occurred.  All paperwork and services must be completed before a body may be cremated.

The next of kin must sign a Cremation Authorization Form.

The crematory requires either a casket or an alternative cremation container for cremation.  The crematory does not accept metal or fiberglass caskets.  There are many cremation caskets and containers from which to choose.  The cost of cremation caskets and containers will vary according to the materials used and designs selected.

Individual or companion (two cremain) urns vary in cost and are available in hundreds of designs made from wood, glass, cast or sheet bronze, ceramic, plastic, marble, marbelon or cultured stone.  Many urns have the ability to be engraved or have an engraved plate attached to them.  Memento urns and necklaces allow one to keep a small portion of their loved one's cremains.
