“Gerry”
Gerry, age 88, of Kaukauna, passed away Friday, July 31, 2009, at St. Paul Elder Services. She was born February 12, 1921 in Appleton, daughter of the late Charles and Louise (Waulet) Cumber. She married Edwin Bock July 19, 1941, sharing 54 years together before his death May 21, 1996. She married Henry (Hank) Van Handel February 2, 2002, who preceded her in death November 4, 2004.
Gerry was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and a past member of the Christian Mothers, St. E’s Auxiliary, VFW Post #2778 Ladies Auxiliary, Cooties Pup Tent #29 and American Legion Post #38 Ladies Auxiliary.
Gerry is survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law: Candace Williams, Town of Menasha; Joy and David Bradway, Oshkosh; Nancy and Michael Kerkhoff, Kaukauna; 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Terry and Vanessa Bock, Waupaca; Gary and Colleen Bock, Little Chute and a daughter-in-law: Carrie Bock, Appleton; 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Bock, 2 brothers: Marlyn Cumber and Kenneth Cumber; a sister: Betty Kowalke and a son-in-law: Henry Williams.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 5 PM, Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St., with Rev. Robert Karuhn officiating. Burial will take place Wednesday at Highland Memorial Park. The visitation will be held Tuesday from 3 PM until the time of service in the Sacred Heart Room at the church. A memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at St. Paul Elder Services for the loving care Gerry received during her stay.
