Victor, age 88, of Appleton died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Manor Care Health Center in Appleton. Victor was born December 8, 1920, in the Town of Scandinavia, WI, to the late Elmer and Mildred (Danielson) Hellestad. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. On April 7, 1948, Victor was united in marriage to Melda Luniak. The couple enjoyed over 50 years together until her death in 2001.
Victor owned and operated Hellestad Insurance Agency in Appleton for 40 years, retiring in 1983. He was active with the Appleton Lions Club, and was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton, where he belonged to the Sons of Norway.
He is survived by his daughter Susan (Larry) Reinke, Wausau; 2 granddaughters: Jenny (Eric) Sarauer, Eau Claire, and Amy Reinke, Minneapolis; 2 brothers: Phil (Janet) Hellestad, Plymouth, WI, and Kenneth Hellestad, Milwaukee; a brother in law Alan Luniak, Shawano; he is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Dan, and his brother Leland Hellestad.
A Funeral Service will be held 11 am on Friday, July 17, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Friday from 10 am until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
