Formerly of Appleton
Shirley, age 80, died peacefully on Thursday June 18, 2009, at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. Shirley was born April 23, 1929, in Appleton to the late William and Martha (Green) Weyenberg.
On November 18, 1950, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Golden at St. Therese Catholic Church, Appleton. The couple has enjoyed 59 years together.
In her younger years, Shirley was active with the Girl Scouts as a Troop Leader. She was also active at St. Pius Catholic Church, Appleton, where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society.
She is survived by her husband Bob Golden, Kaukauna; daughter Peggy (David) Oberhofer, River Hills, WI; 3 grandchildren: Megan (Amish) Patel, Molly McCloud, and Matthew (Shelley) Oberhofer; her sister Esther Tousey, Appleton; 2 brothers in law: Jerry (Bonnie) Golden, Kaukauna, and Jim (Joyce) Golden, Little Chute. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Maddie. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Patrick Golden, and brother in law Art Tousey.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Monday, June 22, at St. Pius Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton, with Father Willie Vande Loo officiating. Friends visit directly at the church on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A memorial fund in her name has been established.
