“Joe”
Joe was born September 3, 1923 and passed away April 1, 2009. Joe was the beloved husband of Faye Schulz Velguth, sharing 55 years together. He was the loving father of Gail and son-in-law Steve Clausing; Lynne and son-in-law John Zillman; David Velguth and daughter-in-law Pam; and daughter-in-law: Sue Amigod. Joe is also survived by eight grandchildren: Melissa, Michael, Amy, Claire, Nicole, Jessica, Shelby and Beth and five great grandchildren; two brothers: George “Clark” and Frederick Velguth. He was preceded in death by his son Mark.
Joe piloted a troop carrier in WW II. He was an engineer at Voith Inc. until his retirement in 1989. Joe was an active member of his community and church. He was a volunteer at Appleton Medical Center and for United for Reading Success. He was also a member of the Kiwanis. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, wood carving, water color painting and tending his roses. Joe will be especially remembered for his tireless support and unconditional love for his family.
Services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 E. Glendale Av., Appleton, on Saturday April 4, 2009 with Rev. James Wiebel officiating. The visitation will begin at 12 noon with service at 1 PM, followed by a fellowship luncheon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Appleton Kiwanis, PO box 62, Appleton, WI 54912, or the SE Wisconsin ALS Association, 2421 N. Mayfair Rd., Wauwatosa, WI 53226.
