Roger, age 88 of Appleton, formerly of Cromwell, Ct, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009, in Bend, OR, following a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Leona (Grassl) Trask. Roger was born in New Boston, MA and lived most of his life in Glastonbury and Cromwell, CT before moving to Appleton 20 years ago.
In addition to Leona, he is survived by his son Thomas and wife Elaine Trask of Berlin, CT. and his daughter Judith Trask of Bend, OR. He is also survived by his granddaughter: Sara and her husband Michael Florio of Bedfore Hills, NY; his grandson: Ryan Trask of Berlin, CT; his brother: Donald and wife Margaret Trask of Manchester, CT; and friend Dr. Deanna St. Germain of Bend, OR.
Before his retirement in 1986, Roger was employed as an Officer of the Hartford Insurance Group. He was proud Veteran of WWII serving in North Africa. He was a long time member of the Lion’s Club in both, Cromwell, CT and Appleton. Roger enjoyed a 20 year membership in the choir at St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton, where he was also a volunteer.
Throughout the years, he looked forward to vacations in the mountains and was finally able to live among the snow capped peaks after his and Leona’s recent move to Oregon.
Simultaneous services will occur in Bend, OR, and Appleton, on Friday, March 27, 2009. A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton. The calling hours will begin at 10 AM at the church. A memorial service will be held at 9 AM at the St. Charles Medical Center Chapel in Bend, OR. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Roger’s memory to Leader Dogs for the Blind c/o The Appleton Evening Lions’s Club c/o Jim Smith, President, 1755 N. Meade St., Appleton, WI 54911.
