Mike, age 63 of Appleton passed away Thursday, January 8, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born November 7, 1945 in Turlock, CA, son of the late Henry and Alice (Evans) Wrubel Sr. and was raised in up state New York. He married Lynette Ebert July 16, 1982, sharing 26 years together.
He was a manager for B. Dalton, Barnes and Nobel and Media Play for 20 plus years.
During Mikes early years he was a VISTA Volunteer, a band teacher and radio announcer. He played in the U.S. Army Band at Ft. Meade, MD from 1970 to 1973. He was a kind and gentle man who loved his family, had a love of music, books and college basketball.
He is survived by his wife Lynette, Appleton; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law: Jeremy and Kim Wrubel, Peekskill, NY; Colin Wrubel, Appleton; a brother: Jerry Wrubel, Geneseo, NY; a grandson: Joshua Wrubel; a step-father; Otis Schofield, Plant City, FL; a father-in-law and mother-in-law: Vernon and Dorothy Ebert, Green Valley, AZ; 2 brother-in-law: Gale (Joan) Ebert, Raleigh, NC; John Ebert, Brooklyn Park, MN; a sister-in-law: Sheryl Ebert (Vivek Kaul) of Chaska, MN; his former wife: Carole Wrubel, St. Paul, MN and many nieces and nephews.
At Mikes request there will be no services. A memorial fund has been established.
