1921 – 2009 Ruth Alice (Kendall) Allen “MeMe”, 88, St. Joseph, Missouri passed from this life on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Saxton Woods Health Care Center. She was born April 24, 1921 in St. Joseph to Ben and Grace (Blankenship) Kendall. Ruth was a graduate of Lafayette High School. She was a member of Woodson Chapel Christian Church. Ruth had worked at Thomas Market, Noma Lites. Ruth married Herman “Bill” Allen on February 14, 1968 in Troy, Kansas and he preceded her in death on March 20, 1990. Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents; son, William “Bill” Peterson; brothers, Ellis and Ben “Junior” Kendall; sister, Josephine Krumme; and 2 granddaughters, Kimberly and Betty Peterson. Survivors: sons, Gerald Peterson, Missouri, and Steve Allen; daughter, Marylyn Marshal, both of St. Joseph; brother and sister-in-law, Willie “Peanuts” and Mary Kendall, St. Joseph; 6 grandchildren, Mike Peterson and wife, Ginger, St. Joseph; Mandy Woodward-Kennedy, Brigette Davison and Christie Peterson, all of Lincoln, NE; Anita Combs, Stewartsville, MO and Lori Canady, Savannah, MO; several great grandchildren; a very dear friend, Don Berning “Pappy”, St. Joseph; and many nieces, nephews and other family members. Ruth had a great love for her family and grandchildren, and unconditional, never-ending love. She was a mother to many and will be greatly missed. Graveside Celebration of Life and Interment: 10:30 A.M. Friday, August 7, 2009 at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Public viewing and family receiving hours 6-8 P.M. Thursday at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Memorial donations to Woodson Chapel Christian Church. | ||
