Olive Elizabeth (Hopkins) Heckman, 82, Bolckow, Missouri died Thursday, August 3, 2006 at King City Manor, King City, Missouri.
Olive was born March 14, 1924 to George and Annie (Fisher) Hopkins in Bristol, England. On June 12, 1943 Olive married Charles Cloyd Karr. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1956. Also preceding Olive in death were her parents, her sister Phyllis Rapley, great granddaughter Sydnee Seipel and a step great grandchild.
Olive married Paul Elton Heckman on March 13, 1962 in Savannah, Missouri. Olive was a member of Rosendale Christian Church, the church secretary for many years, past and present Sunday school teacher, quilting group member and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Hickory Point Club, Rosendale Garden Club and was district president, Christian Women’s Fellowship, Fillmore, Missouri VFW Women’s Auxiliary, International Church Choir, Jolly Jubileers Singing Group and the Democratic Township Committee. Olive was a volunteer cancer patient driver and received the Volunteer Award with RSVP, Savannah, Missouri. Olive enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, flowers and making special things for her grandchildren.
Survivors: husband Paul, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law Terry and Betty Karr, King City, Missouri, David and Judy Karr, Larry and Ruth Heckman, all of Savannah, Missouri; daughters and sons-in-law Sadie and Junior Crail, St. Joseph, Missouri, Betty and Ivan Hendricks, Rosendale, Missouri; brother Mark and wife Marge Hopkins and sister Lucy Harper, all of England; 17 grandchildren, 12 step grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 31 step great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 10 step great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Celebration of Life: 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Breit-Hawkins & Gladden Funeral Home, Savannah, Missouri. Interment Fillmore, Missouri Cemetery. Public viewing and family visitation 6 to 8 PM Friday. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or for Parkinson’s Disease.
