1924 – 2010

Martha Jane (Neudorff) Drannan Burton, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri passed from this life on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Carriage Square Health Care, St. Joseph. She was born March 2, 1924 in St. Joseph to Herbert and Martha (Nash) Neudorff. Martha married Walter Drannan and they later divorced. She then married Ray Burton on June 9, 1973 in St. Joseph and he preceded her in death on July 23, 2005. Her parents, a son, Thomas Drannan, stepson, Ray Burton, Jr., stepdaughter Betty Rigby, and brothers, Herbert and William Neudorff, Jr.; sisters, Julia Ann Mumper and G. Ellen Wright also preceded Martha in death. Martha was a pharmacy clerk at Muir Pharmacy, a nurses aide at the former Sister’s Hospital, a nutritionist for the University Of Missouri Extension Center, a cook at Lafayette High School, and a homemaker. She was of the Catholic faith. Martha was a Cub Scout Leader, and enjoyed playing bingo. Martha and her late husband, Ray, enjoyed spending time at Big Lake and being active in the Local 101 Operating Engineers Retirees Organization. Survivors: sons, James (Jim) Drannan, Bremerton, WA, John (Linda) Drannan, Highland, IL, and Daniel (Buckwheat) Drannan, St. Joseph; daughter, Martha (Drannan) and Rudy Clark, Helena, MO; a sister, Rosemary Ollison, Whittier, CA; daughter-in-law, Twyla Beeny, Easton, MO; step-daughters, Billie Hahn, Colleen Jacobs, and Doris Ellen Stobaugh, all of St. Joseph; 12 grandchildren, 13 great and 3 great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Vickie Widner, Sharon Ray, and Larry and Andy Matt (Cabbage Roll Deli). Celebration of Life: 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 10th at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home, St. Joseph, MO. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public viewing and family receiving hours 6-8 PM Tuesday. Memorial donations to a choice of the donor. Special thanks to the staff at Carriage Square and Hands of Hope Hospice for their care.
