1931 – 2009 Billy Joe Atkins, 77, Savannah, Missouri passed from this life on Friday, January 23, 2009 in his home. He was born November 8, 1931 in Rosendale, Missouri to the late Logan and Nellie (Wallace) Atkins. Billy married Faye Ella Steeby on March 20, 1951 in Savannah. He worked for the Missouri Highway Department for 11 years and then worked for St. Joseph Packaging for 31 years, retiring in 1993. Billy was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Dean Atkins; a sister, Helen Rankin, and a step great granddaughter, Lindsey Helton. Survivors: his wife, Faye Atkins, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Dea Atkins, St. Joseph; Keith and Sandra Atkins, Fillmore, Mo; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Dick McGuire, Rosendale, Mo; Tammy and Clint Messner, Savannah; grandsons, Jesse McGuire and wife, Christine; Caleb Messner and Billy Atkins; granddaughters, Sarah Zimmerman, Minde Messner, Brooke Messner and Krystal Atkins; 4 great grandchildren; step grandchildren, Tera Helton and husband, Danny and Delaney Martinez, and 4 step great grandchildren. Celebration of Life: 9:30 AM Monday, January 26, 2009 at Breit-Hawkins & Gladden Funeral Home, Savannah, MO. Interment will be in Fillmore, Missouri Cemetery. Public viewing after 3 PM Sunday. The family will receive friends 4-6 PM Sunday. The family suggests memorials to Hands of Hope Hospice. | ||
