| | | Marion Edgar “Bud” Gay, 91, Rea, Missouri died Monday, August 20, 2007 at Shady Lawn Nursing Home, Savannah, Missouri.
Bud was born June 23, 1916 at Flag Springs, Missouri to the late Frank and Captola (Manning) Gay. He was a 1935 graduate of Union Star, Missouri High School. Bud married Mary Elizabeth Brinton at Atchison, Kansas on April 6, 1944. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2006. Also preceding in death were two infant children; Beverly and Jimmie Gay; and brothers; Billy, Donald, Gerald and Manning Gay.
Bud was a lifetime farmer in Andrew County. He had a great love for his livestock and animals. He was a friend to everyone, always helping others. Bud was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Rea Union Church; a fifty year member of Whitesville Masonic Lodge # 162 AF&AM; former president and active member of the Andrew County Farm Bureau; former member of the Andrew County School Board and past president of North Andrew R-VI School District. Bud was an Andrew County Eastern District Commissioner from 1978 to 1982; past president and member of the Rosendale Lion’s Club; past board member of EOC; and member of the Andrew County Cattlemen’s Association and the Pork Producer’s.
Survivors: son; Robert Gay, St. Joseph; daughters; Cathy (Jim) Hammer, St. Joseph; Jeannie (Steve) Pitluck, St. Joseph; Cheryl (Dave) Locey, Sturgis, Michigan; sisters; Naomi Armfield, St. Joseph and Doris Millen, Savannah; grandchildren; Laurie Galbreath, Melissa Winklepleck, Andrew Hasty, Ashley and Natalie Gay; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and the Brinton families.
Celebration of Life: 10:30 AM, Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Breit-Hawkins & Gladden Funeral Home, Savannah. Interment Whitesville, Missouri Cemetery. A Masonic Service will be held at 6:00 PM Tuesday; family receiving and visitation will follow until 8:00 PM.
Memorials may be made to Rea Union Church or the Noyes Home for Children.
