Donald J. Helein, 85, Black Creek passed away Saturday evening, October 1, 2011, at his home with his family by his side. He was born January 19, 1926, son of the late John and Elsie (Zocholl) Helein. On October 23, 1954, he was united in marriage to Arla Holcomb in Appleton. Don was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1951-1953. He farmed on the family homestead until his retirement. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in the Town of Black Creek, where he was a former council member. He also was a retired member of the Black Creek Rural Fire Dept. and a member of the Black Creek American Legion. Don’s wishes were to pass away in the house he was born, raised, and lived all his life.
Don is survived by his wife, Arla; son, Gary (Virginia) Helein, Seymour; daughters: Sue (Bill) Schneider, Black Creek; Sara (Brian) Biettler, Black Creek; grandchildren: Nick (Diana) Helein, Erica (Jason) Jansky, Brock Helein, Megan Helein, John (Carrie) Schneider, Laura Schneider; brother, Walter (Evelyn) Helein, Eagle River.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Odell and Marian (Eugene) Vick.
Friends may call Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from 4-8 p.m., at the Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, and Thursday at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Black Creek, from 10:00 a.m. until services at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gail Irwin officiating.
