Linus L. Lechner, age 89, passed away at 6:24 p.m. Wednesday (December 14, 2011) in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was born in Jasper, Indiana on March 11, 1922 to August and Cecelia (Fleck) Lechner. He married Rosella (Sally) Hartung on April 24, 1948; she preceded him in death on June 3, 2003
A WWII Army Veteran; he served as an assistant to General Patton and was a double recipient of the Purple Heart.
He was Owner / operated of the Linus L. Lechner Tile Company in Jasper for 55 years.
Lifelong member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Jasper Knight of Columbus, Charter member of the German Club also member of the American Legion Post # 147, V.F.W. Post # 673, and the Disabled American Veterans.
Linus was a recipient of the Brute Award of the Diocese of Evansville.
He was well known for his Wine making, Gardening, fishing and studying astrology.

31 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his wife is one sister Loretta Jones and one sister Adeline who died in infancy.
Funeral services for Linus Lechner will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (December 17, 2011) in Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. V.F.W. Post # 673 will conduct military grave side rites.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday (December 16, 2011) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday by the Disable American Veterans.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Linus and Rosella “Sally” Lechner Family Endowment in C/O the Dubois County Community Foundation or to the Jasper German Club.
