Calvin D. Elkins, age 72 of Celestine, Indiana passed away at 12:05 a.m. Sunday (August 7, 2011) at his home.
He was born at New Harmony, Indiana on October 9, 1938 to Ernest and Stella (Calvin) Elkins. He married Genieve Hoffman on June 23, 1962 in St. Celestine Catholic Church.
Calvin retired from the Jasper Cabinet Company in Jasper where he had worked for over twenty years.
He is a member of St. Celestine Catholic Church –Celestine Knight of Columbus - Dale High School Class of 1956 – Celestine Community Club where he supervised the shooting matches for many years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
His hobbies were rebuilding Snapper Lawn Mowers – Genealogy – Shooting matches and an avid Dubois High School Basketball fan.

Five grandchildren, Cody, Emily, Kale, Kasady and Bailey
One sister, Mary Frances Brown, Rockport, IN
Also several nieces and nephews
Preceding him in death are four brothers, James, Alfred, Raymond and Ernest Elkins.
Funeral services for Calvin Elkins will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (August 10, 2011) in St. Celestine Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Celestine Cemetery. V.F.W. Post # 673 in Jasper will conduct military grave side rites.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday by the St. Celestine Parish, Celestine Knights of Columbus and the Celestine Community Club.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Celestine Catholic Church – Lange –Fuhs Cancer Center or to a favorite charity.
