Herbert A. Wening, age 83 of Portersville, Indiana died at 1:20 p.m. Sunday (April 24, 2011) in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper. He was a resident of the Golden Living Center in Petersburg, Indiana for the past seven years.

He was born at Portersville, Indiana on August 28, 1927 to George and Nora (Hoffman) Wening.
He married Velma Hembree July 12, 1956, she preceded him in death on November 23, 1984.


He retired from Jasper Plant Foods where he had worked for 25 years, He also was a Farmer and was a mail carrier for many years.

He started his music career with his dad and three sisters band and then he played with the Country Gentlemenís Band and then formed the Wening Family Band along with his children.


He is a member of St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana - Jasper Moose Lodge # 1175.

Funeral services for Herbert Wening will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (April 27, 2011) in St. Paulís Lutheran Church with burial to follow in St. Paulís Cemetery. The Rev. Charla Grieves will officiate.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday (April 26, 2011) at the Becher & Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paulís Lutheran Church.
