John E. Himsel, age 93 of Boone Township, Indiana died at 10:00 p.m. Monday (February 7, 2011) in Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
He was born April 2, 1917 in Boone Township to Samuel and Laura (Bauer) Himsel. He married Mary Jane Smith on May 2, 1959. She preceded him in death on September 18, 1980.
He served as Boone Township Trustee. He was a partner in Harker and Himsel Feed Store in Ireland. He also served as a director of the Bank of Ireland. He was a self-employed sales representative with Moorman Feeds and Colbert Seed Corn.
He enjoyed working with antique furniture and old books.

Sister, Hilda Small, Huntingburg, IN
Also nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are 3 sisters, Frida Weisman, Lucille Jones and Frances Conolty. Also 2 brothers, Everitt Himsel and Luther Himsel.
Funeral services for John Himsel will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday (February 11, 2011) in St. John’s Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Becher & Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Cemetery Fund or a favorite charity.
