He was born at Huntingburg, Indiana on March 22, 1933 to Anthony and Agnes (Mehringer) Hopf.
He married Frances Stetter on August 16, 1958.

Edwin Hopf was a Korean Army Veteran and a retired farmer and member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland and the Huntingburg V.F.W. Post # 2366.
Funeral services for Edwin O. Hopf will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday (September 3, 2009) in St. Mary Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Ireland. V.F.W. Post # 2366 will conduct military grave side rites.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m . Wednesday (September 2, 2009) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Cathoiic Church or a favorite charity.
