Irene R. Knies, age 93, Jasper, Indiana, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday (June 1, 2009) at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.
She was born at Schnellville, Indiana, February 24, 1916 to Frank and Rose (Welp) Haas. She married Leo T. Knies October 12, 1937 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Schnellville, Indiana, he preceded her in death , July 21, 2005.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are 2 sisters, Marie Sternberg and Leona Lubbers and 2 brothers Leo and John Haas.
Mrs. Knies was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and the Precious Blood Ladies Sodality.
Funeral services for Irene Knies will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday (June 4, 2009) in Precious Blood Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday (June 3, 2009) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
