Linus A. “Hank” Vollmer, age 88 of Jasper died at 01:40 a.m. today (Monday, September 29, 2008) in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born in Jasper, Indiana on May 17, 1920 to John and Catherine (Kreilein) Vollmer. He married Helen Knies on November 11, 1950 in St. Celestine Catholic Church, Celestine, Indiana she preceded him in death on May 15, 1991.

Hank Vollmer was a WWII Navy Veteran and retired from Masterbrand (The former Aristokraft Kitchen Cabinet Company in Jasper) where he worked for 26 years and formerly managed the former United Cabinet Company in Celestine, Indiana. He also was a volunteer for the Dubois County Civil Defense.

He is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jasper Knights of Columbus , V.F.W. Post # 673, Life member of the Celestine Community Club, Jasper Outdoor Recreation Club.

Preceding him in death besides his wife are 1 sister, Lorena Seng and 2 brothers, Urban and Victor Vollmer.
Funeral services for Linus Vollmer will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday (October 3, 2008) in St. Joseph Catholic Church with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. V.F.W. Post # 673 in Jasper will conduct Military Grave Side Rites.

Rosary at 3:00 p.m. Thursday by members of St. Joseph Parish.

Friends may call from Noon-8 p.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.
