William (Art) Jarboe, age 83 of Jasper died at 11:43 p.m. Tuesday (September 9, 2008) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

He was born at Tell City, Indiana on September 1, 1925 to William Arthur Sr. and Christina Feix Jarboe. He married Joan Patrice Parker on December 27, 1947.

Art Jarboe was a WWII Marine Corp Veteran serving in the South Pacific and retired from Sieberts in Jasper. He also was a Jasper Volunteer Fireman for 30 years and a Cub Scout Leader and a manager of the Jasper Reds Baseball Team and also managed the Jasper Blues.

He is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Indiana Volunteer Fireman Association, Jasper Volunteer Fireman Association, V.F.W. Post # 673, American Legion Post # 147, Charter member of the Jasper Jaycees, past member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, past member of the Knight of Columbus and Past president of the Jasper Civic Theater. Southern Indiana Leatherneck Marine Corp League and the Jasper Barber-Shop Quartet.

Preceding him in death is 1 son, William Arthur III who died in infancy and 1 grandson, Matthew. 2 brothers, George and Patrick Jarboe and 2 sisters, Marie Bastine and Emma Jarboe who died in infancy.

Funeral service for Art Jarboe will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (September 13, 2008) in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. V.F.W. Post # 673 and American Legion Post # 147 will conduct Military Grave Side Rites.
Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jasper Food Bank, to the St. Vincent DePaul or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
