| Nitro, WV- Lesta Marie Thornton Landers, 92, of Nitro, WV died March 20, 2011 at Angel Avenue Assisted Living, Hurricane, WV.
Born August 2, 1918 in Putnam County, she was a daughter of the late Ad and Louise Anne Higginbotham Thornton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her daughter, Doris Shafer; her grandson, Michael and her sister, Clesta Raines and her brother, Velvo Thornton. She was a homemaker and a Christian. Surviving are her daughters, Janet Wysong and Yvonne Landers both of Eleanor, Bonnie Oldham and her husband, Mike of Nitro; her grandchildren, Karey Counts, Shannon Cress, Portia Carroll, Priscilla Klein, Wesley Shafer and Timothy Wysong; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Service will be 2pm Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Chapman Funeral Home, 3941 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane with Jim Hines officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House, WV. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
