Sharon C. Leavitt, 67, of Columbus, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at 5:55 p.m. at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Sharon was a former board member and member of Pregnancy Care Center, The Ridge, P.E.O and Treasure Hunters Antique Club. She was a member of Bookmark Book Club and Columbus Emaus Community, was a former women's Bible leader at First Christian Church and was active in the Book Buddies reading program.
She enjoyed IU sports, playing bridge and golf and being with her grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Mark Jones officiating.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday.
Private inurnment will be at a later date at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pregnancy Care Center or Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Sharon was born in Danville, Illinois, August 6, 1944, the daughter of James E. and Clara E. Schuyler Cahill. She married Michael L. Leavitt on June 10, 1967.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, of Columbus; children, Kimberly Backmeyer of Columbus and Michael L. (Betsy) Leavitt Jr. of Greenwood; a brother, James (Linda) Cahill of Palos Verde, California; a sister, Debbie (Jim) Carlson of Cooper Landing, Alaska; and grandchildren, Lauren Backmeyer, Anniston Backmeyer, Emma Leavitt and Michael L. Leavitt III.
She was preceded in death by her father, James E. Cahill.
