Carl T. Henney Jr., 81, of Azalea Drive died at 1:55 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mr. Henney was a 1942 graduate of Columbus High School and served with the Army in the Philippines during World War II. He was an engineer at Cummins Engine Co., starting his employment there on July 7, 1942, and retiring Jan. 1, 1987.

He was a lifetime member of Columbus Moose Lodge and a member of the Elks Club and Columbus American Legion and enjoyed woodworking and collecting clocks.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Edward L. Bennett officiating. Calling will be from noon until service time Monday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Military graveside rights will be conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.

Born in Columbus Aug. 17, 1924, Mr. Henney was the son of Carl T. and Mary Crippen Henney. He married Carol Briner Oct. 8, 1954.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Martha Jones of Paoli; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on June 19, 1999; and a sister, Maxine Spaulding.
