| | | Charles Eugene Henson, 86, of Davenport, IA, died Sunday, September 13, 2009, at the Clarissa C. Clark Hospice Center in Bettendorf, IA.
Born May 15, 1923, in Story County Iowa, he was the son of Charles Raymond and Ethel Gladys Henson. On August 26, 1944, he married Evangeline Gladys Dressler in Anita, Iowa.
A 1941 graduate of Maxwell High School, Mr. Henson farmed for many years in the Colo, IA ,area, later operating a trucking business.
He was a member of the Nevada Assembly of God Church for many years before moving to Davenport in 2003. Family was everything to him; he enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in many events.
Survivors include his children Sandra Martin (Robert) of Columbus Junction, IA; Larry Henson (Barbara) of Davenport, IA; and Randy Henson (Lin) of Kearney, MO; and his sister Wilma Allspach of Baxter, IA. Surviving grandchildren include Mike Henson of Bettendorf, Steven Henson of Bettendorf, Tiffany McEwan of Denver, IA, Jeff Martin of Columbus Junction, Michelle Lukavsky of Columbus Junction, Vicky Guillaume of Columbus Junction, Chad Henson of Lathrop, MO, and Kyle Henson of Overland Park, Kansas.
Sixteen great grandchildren were his pride: Matthew, Ally, and Megan Henson; Tyler and Paige Henson; Chase and Mackenzie McEwan; Bryce and Rachel Martin; Bailey, Brady, and Tanner Lukavsky; Isaac Guillaume; Chance Henson; Kyla and Megan Henson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and an infant son Gary Eugene.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 16, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada, IA, from 6:00—7:30.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 17, at the Bacon Funeral Home at 10:00.
