COLLINS - Larry James Beals, 72, died Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, August 10th at the Mingo United Methodist Church in Mingo, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 to 5 PM, Sunday, at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell.

Larry was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on December 15, 1936, the son of Stanley and Nettie (Kimberley) Beals. He graduated from Mingo High School in 1955 and went on to two years of college. On September 4, 1960, he was united in marriage to Donna Brooke at the Loring United Methodist Church in Maxwell, Iowa.

He was a member of Central Iowa Two Cylinder Club; Beaver Creek Plainsman; Mid Iowa Antique Power Association; Jasper County Farm Bureau, and a former member of the Flying Farmers of America. He was a member of the Mingo United Methodist Church.

Larry is survived by his wife, Donna Beals of Collins, Iowa; two sons: John (Barbara) Beals of Nevada, Iowa; Gene (Sandie) Beals of Collins, Iowa; six grandchildren: Chelsea Renaud, Carter Beals, Cody Beals, Kelly Beals, Lucinda Sheriff, Ben McDonald; two great-grandchildren: Jordan Sheriff and Lexi Sheriff; and many close friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one son: Jim on May 4, 1996.

Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
