| | | NEVADA– Marly J. Olson, 54, of Nevada, died Monday, July 6, 2009 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Marly was born June 16, 1955 in Eldora, Iowa, the son of Maynard and Vivian (Johnson) Olson. He served in the Army and worked in concrete construction for Stenberg Construction. He was united in marriage to Fay Clapp on September 29, 1978 in Ames, Iowa. Marly loved stock-cars, auto racing and Viking football, but most of all, he loved his family.
Marly is survived by his wife, Fay, of Nevada, IA; two sons and daughters-in-law: Rick (Karen) Brown of Ankeny, IA, Justin (Rachel) Olson of Nevada, IA; two daughters and a son-in-law: Tammy (Patrick) Doyle of Ames, IA, Kim Olson (her fiancé,Aaron Brown) of Ames, IA; five grandchildren: Lauren Doyle, Jordan Doyle, Jaylynn Olson, Landon Brown, Hunter Brown; three brothers: Vail Olson, Vincent Olson, Mondell Olson, all of Nevada, IA; and two sisters: Valerie Klein and Marcia Tendall, both of Nevada, IA.
Marly was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother: Maynard Olson, Jr.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Burial will be in the McCallsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday at the Bacon Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marly Olson Memorial Fund.
