Emery Krebs, 82, of Maxwell, Iowa, died March 14, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.

Emery was born November 9, 1926 at Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Emery and Myrtle (Sally) Krebs. He married Barbara Anne Evans on December 18, 1946 at Colfax, Iowa. She preceded him in death February, 1985. He was a Carpenter’s Mate Third Class in the Navy during WWII, serving in the South Pacific, Philippines, and Guam. In 1946, Emery attended refrigeration school in Des Moines. He had worked in Colfax until 1951. From 1951 to 1953, Emery farmed near Zearing, and from 1953 to 1957 he farmed near Collins. From 1956 to 1967 he worked at John Deere in Ankeny having become a supervisor. In 1967, Emery went into the Insurance and Finance businesses until 1971, when he went into sales of city equipment until 1976. In 1976, Emery founded Krebs Enterprises and founded Hydr-Klean. He retired in 1992.

Emery was a member of the Maxwell American Legion; VFW of Ankeny; National Rifle Association and Collins Masonic Lodge #513. He enjoyed hunting and gardening.

Survivors include three sons: Kyle Krebs of Ames, Iowa; Kim (Teresa) of Nevada, Iowa; Kory Krebs and Barbette Krebs of Maxwell, Iowa; 5 grandchildren; three great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; one brother: Howard Krebs of Northfield, Minnesota and very good long time friend and companion, Betty Long of Collins, Iowa.

Preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 18th with a Masonic Service at 8:00 P.M.
