Carol P. Koeneke, 72, of Nevada, Iowa, died Friday, February 27, 2009, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada, following a long illness.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M.,Tuesday, March 3rd at First United Methodist Church in Nevada. Visitation will be from 6:30 – 8:00 P.M. on Monday, March 2nd at Bacon Funeral Home, Nevada.

Carol was born on November 13, 1936 to Edward and Kathleen Comes of Atlantic, Iowa. She graduated from Atlantic High School in 1954. In 1955 she was united in marriage to Louis A. Koeneke of Manchester, IA at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple had two children: Susan and Steve. On May 8th of this year Carol and Louie would have celebrated 54 years of marriage.

She was a homemaker, but also worked at Posegate’s Flower Shop for several years. She was a member of the Billy Sunday Questers and Mary Circle of the United Methodist Church in Nevada. She was an avid golfer and also loved to walk until the onset of her illness. At home she loved tending to her flowers and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed antiques and sewing and had a lifelong love of animals.

Carol is survived by her husband Louis (Louie) of Nevada; two children: Sue (Jamey) McCaskey of Colo, Iowa; Steve (Stacy) Koeneke of Ames, Iowa and two grand-daughters: Lindsey Bingham of Windsor Heights and Calista Koeneke of Ames.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be given to the First United Church of Nevada, Iowa.
