| | | NEVADA – Elizabeth S. Hackler, 99, formerly of Collins, Iowa, died January 29, 2009 at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada, Iowa. Services will be Tuesday, February 3rd, 10:30 a.m. at the Ashton Chapel near Baxter. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Elizabeth was born at Slater, Iowa on August 17, 1909, the daughter of Nels and Nellie (Highland) Ihle. She graduated from Slater High School in 1927. She married Vern Merlin “M” Hackler in Oklahoma in 1951. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1980. She enjoyed her involvement in the Ashland Chapel, Bethlehem Flowers, and Slater American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by nephews: Jack (Lou) Ihle of Nevada, Iowa; Ronald (Gwen) Ihle of Slater, Iowa; a niece: Deanna (Bruce) Grier of Mesa, Arizona; her good friend, Guy Elliott; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and three brothers: Amund, Cyrus and Everet.
Memorials may be given to Story County Long Term Care, Nevada.
Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
