Marjorie Hobson, 83, of Nevada, died Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.

Marjorie was born September 25, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Cecil and Bessie (McDivitt) Breeden. She grew up in Urbandale, where she graduated from High School. She then attended the Open Bible Institute and worked at Colonial Bakery until moving to Nevada, Iowa upon her marriage to Bob Hobson on September 15, 1956. She was a computer operator at Donnelley Marketing until retiring in 1990. Marjorie enjoyed gardening, crocheting, Blue Grass Festivals and her granddaughters. Marjorie was known for her neighborhood garage sales. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nevada, Nevada Historical Society, and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Marjorie is survived by her husband, Bob, of Nevada, Iowa; her son and daughter-in-law: Keith and Brenda Hobson of Nevada, Iowa; two granddaughters: Leah Hobson of Troy, Ohio, Rebecca Hobson of Nevada, Iowa; one brother: Lloyd Breeden of Marshalltown, Iowa; and two sisters: Edna (Harold) Jacobs of Urbandale, Iowa, and Darlene Beavers of Phoenix, Arizona.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Nevada. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. An Order of the Eastern Star Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. following the visitation.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Nevada and to the Israel Family Hospice House.

The Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory of Nevada is handling arrangements.
