Gordon Eugene Holland, 79, of Collins, Iowa, died Sunday, October 19, 2008, at Fargo, North Dakota. Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, October 24, 2008 at Collins United Methodist Church in Collins, Iowa. Visitation will be 6:00 8:00 PM Thursday, October 23rd, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. A Masonic Service will be held at 8:00 PM following the vistation.
Gordon was born in Collins, Iowa, on June 7, 1929, the son of Loyd and Doris (Keagle) Holland. He married Shirley Lou Andrew on January 22, 1949. Gordon was a farmer who farmed in the Collins area.
He was a member the Collins United Methodist Church; a 50 year member of the Fervent Masonic Lodge; Collins Lions Club; boys 4-h Club leader, former member of the Story County Zoning Board; and a 50 year member of Eastern Star. Gordon enjoyed farming, baseball, golf, watching sport events and loving his grandchildren. He had a gift for improving mechanical equipment.
Survivors include his wife Shirley Holland of Collins, Iowa; a son, Steven (Maryanne) Holland of Ames, Iowa; two daughters: Mickey (Terry) Vande Kamp of Van Meter, Iowa, Jodee (Gary) Kratz of Farmington, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a brother: Phil (Marilyn) Holland of Iowa City, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Holland of Ames, Iowa.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Dick Holland.
Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
