| | | Thomas Merrill Mennes, 61, of Maxwell, Iowa, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, September 20, 2008.
He was born May 21, 1947 in Bismarck, ND, to Ruby and Clad Mennes. He married Becky Jo Markley in Cambridge, IA on January 14, 1968. Together they had four beautiful daughters: Gail Marie, Julie Ann (Chad), Tonya Kay and Jennifer Lynn (Jesse) all of Maxwell; five granddaughters: Mariya, Page, Katie, Alora, Stephanie and on grandson, Carlton. He was a surrogate grandfather to many.
Tom was employed as a Diesel Mechanic with Cummins Central Power in Des Moines, Iowa, where he worked for 40 years before retiring.
He loved fishing, family get-togethers, farm life, working on old cars and arguing with his daughters. Tom was known for his boisterous spirit and his unconditional love. He was the youngest of 8 children and loved his entire family. He loved life to the fullest.
Services will be held Wednesday, September 24th, 1:00 PM at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 1 PM, prior to the service.
