Appropriate Poems for Funerals

My father is a simple man, curious, honest, genuine, and considerate. Do you know of any poems, stories, or writings that might be appropriate to read at his funeral? He has a short time left.

Thanks for your inquiry. This is kind of a subjective question, but I'll do my best.

One of my favorites is "Afterglow," author unknown.

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterflow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways.
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun.
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

There are so many good poems and readings that I would recommend visiting your local library for some books of poetry. I'm sure that you could find something appropriate.
