Planning a Burial from Another State

What is the best way to plan a funeral/burial for an elderly relative who lives in Virginia and has burial space in Massachusetts? Should I speak to someone in Virginia or plan in Massachusetts?

Based on the information you gave me it sounds like the largest portion of the service will be in Virginia and the only part in Massachusetts will be the committal service. If that is correct I would contact a funeral home in Virginia and have them handle everything.

The Virginia funeral home will be able to line up a funeral home in Massachusetts to take the casket from the airport and go to the cemetery for the committal service. Hope this helps.--Jon Roeder
