| | | Mildred Anna Woods, age 92, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 7, 2009, at 10:30 A.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon. Rev. Marvin Lindley officiating.
Burial in the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
Visitation will be Friday, August 7, from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. prior to the Funeral Service at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service.
Mildred Anna Christina Tillman Woods was born on June 27, 1917, in Sheldon, Iowa. She was the daughter of Walford and Florence (Ek) Tillman (both born in Sweden). She lived her youth and attended school in Sheldon. After graduating from the Sheldon High School, Mildred worked for the Sheldon Sun Newspaper.
She was united in marriage to Carol Paul Woods of Sheldon, Iowa, on December 6, 1940. They lived in Sheldon, where Mildred worked for the family-owned Sheldon Mail Newspaper.
Mildred enjoyed entertaining, cooking, and taking cooking classes. She enjoyed Christmas and decorating her home with the many Christmas decorations she created. Being a guest at Carol and Mildred’s home during Christmas was a special treat.
They enjoyed visiting their cottage at Lake Okoboji, since 1938, and collecting antiques and books. They wintered in Carmel, California, after their retirement in 1972. Carol passed away on March 21, 2009.
Mildred was a caring, warm, and inviting person, as was her home.
She was a member of the Christian Science Church in Sheldon, where she played the organ. She was a member of PEO Chapter DU and of the Sheldon Women’s Club
She passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at the Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa.
Those left to cherish her memories are her sister-in-law: Marguerite Lister Tillman of Costa Mesa, CA; two nieces: Janet Woods Keillor of Mt. Vernon, WA and Marilyn Tillman Rowe of Huntington Beach, CA; nephew: David and Janet Tillman of Newport Beach, CA; eight grand nieces and nephews; many great-grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Carol Paul Woods; her parents; two brothers: Roy Tillman and Albert Tillman.
