Reka Huls, age 90, of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 11, 2009, at 10:30 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley. Rev. Terry Simm officiating.

Burial in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Visitation will be Friday, April 10, from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley.

Reka Huls was born on May 12, 1918, in White, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Claus and Marie (Van Beest) Kor. She lived her youth in White, South Dakota, where she attended school.
She was united in marriage to John Huls Sr. of Sibley, Iowa, on June 6, 1936, in Worthington, Minnesota. They lived in Worthington. They started farming near the Reading, Minnesota, area, and also farmed by Brewster and Adrian, Minnesota. In 1972, they retired from farming and moved to Sibley, Iowa. Reka also worked at the Campbell Soup Co. for several years, until retiring in 1975. John passed away on December 26, 1996.
Reka and John enjoyed spending time at Lake Shetek with their son, Maynard, and going to Las Vegas in the winter to be with their daughter, Carol. Reka continued going to Las Vegas after John died. When Carol moved to Durango, Colorado, she also enjoyed spending time there.
Reka enjoyed baking, crocheting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley.
She moved to Sibley Nursing and Rehab on May 12, 2006.
She passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children: Darleen and Norm Stofferan of Sibley, IA, John Jr. and Shirley Huls of Sibley, IA, James and Janet Huls of Sibley, IA; 18 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; one brother: Clarence Kor of White, SD; one sister-in-law: Phyllis Kor of Worthington, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband: John Sr; one son: Maynard Huls; one daughter: Carol Weikle; her parents; one brother and four sisters.
