Alvin Reinke, age 92, of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2008, at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab in Sibley.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Ashton, Iowa. Pastor Dale Lint officiating.

Burial in the Gilman Township Cemetery in Ashton, Iowa.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 10, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley.

Alvin Henry Reinke was born on April 14, 1916, in Ashton, Iowa. He was the son of Frederick and Lydia (Mohlenkamp) Reinke. He lived his youth east of Ashton. He attended school and graduated from high school in Melvin, Iowa, continuing his education through correspondence courses in business administration.
He was united in marriage to Elsie Verdoorn of Ashton, Iowa, on December 28, 1935, in Canton, South Dakota. They lived in rural Melvin, Iowa, from 1938 to 1948, when they moved to the home place east of Ashton. They lived and farmed there until 1974 when they moved to Sibley, Iowa. They enjoyed 70 years of marriage together until Elsie passed away on January 3, 2006.
Alvin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ashton.
He worked with the ASCS office surveying land, the Tax Assessment Board for Osceola County, and was the Goewey Township Clerk from 1948-1974.
Alvin enjoyed carpentry and worked with his father and Uncle Bill. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, playing pool, horseshoes, bowling, and was very competitive. He bowled a 706 and 722 series, and played on a softball league into his 40’s. He was a big New York Yankee’s fan and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crypto quotes and listening to and singing old hymns.
He passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2008, at Sibley Nursing and Rehab in Sibley, Iowa. Alvin will be remembered as an honest man whose family was very important to him.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children: Charlotte and Bill Holzer of Harlan, IA, Carol and Walt Seivert of Ashton, IA, Sharon Dornon of Sioux City, IA, Ron and Pam Reinke of Sibley, IA, Deb and Jerry Jorgensen of Sioux City, IA; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie; son-in-law, John Dornon; his parents; one brother, LaVerne Reinke.
